Our hosting environment is dedicated and designed for WordPress with all the features and services you expect from a best-in-class hosting provider.
Only WPWizard clients can host their websites with us. In fact, we insist on it. This way we have all the visibility we need to understand the potential impact of updates and minimize any and all business disruption.
In addition to our managed hosting solution, we provide ongoing support and maintenance services including things like up-time monitoring, network intrusion and DOS protection.
The below FAQ will provide you and your technical team answers to the most common questions we get.
We use a high performance Redis Edge Cache and global network of DNS routed cache nodes explicitly designed to serve WordPress page output. The global network works much like a CDN, but speciﬁcally designed to cache and serve WordPress page output.
A request for your website is routed to a global PoPs (Point of Presence) closest to the user. This shortens the distance between the user and your website speeding up the load time of your site to a global audience.
Your entire site and database is backed up, off-site, daily. We do a full copy of your file system & database and then zip that all up into a single ﬁle and store it for you. We have a 14-day retention policy on backups. If you want to save your back-ups longer, you can always login to your WPWizard dashboard and manually download your backups.
Bandwidth is network data metered on all assets delivered to the end user’s browser from our network/servers. The bulk of this is typically the rendered page output (including static assets) delivered as a response to the user. Total bandwidth is comprised of server bandwidth and CDN bandwidth. CDN is also network data metered on assets delivered to the end user’s browser. But instead of our network delivering the asset, it is delivered by the CDN service. Typically all CSS, JS, images, and fonts would be delivered by the CDN. This is why our bandwidth allotments are lower than other providers.
Our WordPress hosting is powered by Amazon AWS. We have 11 global data centers available to us in Virginia, Ohio, Oregon and North California within the United States as well as Montreal, Sao Paulo, Ireland, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney.
We include a Rock Solid DNS by Amazon that accelerates caching by enabling geo routing and geo balancing.
We have rate limiting controls to address bots and attacks coming from a single IP.Our NGINX layer provides rate limiting and protection from the most common application level attacks, including bruteforce attacks against WP login. We protect against this activity by enforcing captchas after too many failed attempts and not allowing one to log in with the username/password being the same.
We offer a CDN built specifically for WordPress. That means your static assets are served according to the provider which has the closest location to your site’s particular visitor. For example, if your visitor happens to be accessing your site from Chennai India, your static assets will be served by the provider that is closest to that location. Having multiple providers on the back-end means more efficiency and faster load times for your users.
All sites created with an existing domain are given a temporary URL to login and build your website prior to switching over. Sites that aren’t transactional in nature (i.e. have no membership or e-commerce components functioning) can be migrated without any downtime. That process involves us cloning your existing site and testing it on a temporary URL. Once we’re ready to cut over, we would then make the DNS change necessary to go live. Membership and e-commerce sites typically require a small (approximately 20 minute) maintenance outage in order to ensure data integrity with cutting over.
If we’re re-designing or re-building your site, we would do all that work on the temporary URL and only once the new site is completely approved would we then make the DNS change necessary to go live on your official public domain.
Pricing & Plans
Our monthly plans are only available to clients who have implemented a WPWizard website. Each plan includes monthly hosting, support, maintenance and licensing fees for the WPWizard platform. Plans start at $149.95 a month for users who don’t require any user support. All plans include unlimited technical support of the native WPWizard platform. In short, we provide support of anything and everything WPWizard but only as long it remains untouched. Should you alter the code in anyway, we’re happy to help should you run into trouble, you would just need to purchase an additional support package.
WPWizard uses integrated cache/CDN to weather spikes in traffic by accelerating page loading times and offloading requests from the server. We also provide the ability to scale up on relativity short notice to larger plans, as opposed to auto-provisioning/terminating extra web nodes as traffic ebbs and flows. The hardware you need to handle peak loads is primarily a function of how well your site caches. We can work with you to analyze your historical data and estimate future traffice to find the right size plan for you.
For base level security, we utilize a dynamic web application ﬁrewall (WAF) that blocks code injection attacks, known exploits and rate limits access attempts. This greatly reduces the chance of a DDoS attack or Brute force attack succeeding.
On top of the above, we also practice ch-root user separation and real-time system malware scanning. Scanning for malware means we’re constantly looking for things like Trojan horses, viruses, worms, key loggers, spyware, and adware. Additional rules set at our network edge ﬁlter out much of the nefarious traffice long before it even has a chance to pass into our network.
Staging & Dev Sites
WPWizard will provide you with both a staging and a “live” or production site. These are two individual sites. WPWizard will train your team on best practices for use of these two sites and how to migrate ﬁnished work from your staging to your live environment.
The minimum amount of storage available on a monthly basis from WPWIzard is 10GB which can be increased as needed. We have several disk expansion options available. However, it’s important to note that our sites automatically minimize storage requirements through use of the Global CDN.
We provide unlimited technical support for any WPWizard website with an active support and maintenance agreement. This includes bug remediation, repair/ﬁxes, disaster recovery and site reinstatement. Depending on your plan, you will have access to our technical support team via our in-app ticketing system, email and/or phone. Our technical support team is always available between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm EST Monday through Friday and on call weekends and evening hours.
